In any human service organization it is very important for a budget to be developed and followed. This can help with the longevity of a company. Without a workable budget and the following of that budget. It can spell disaster over time and could potentially cause the Care safe foster system to close its doors. What would you say to Dir. Drexel to help her understand the importance of a workable budget? I myself would do research first on other entities that are similar to the Carafes entity because this can give her an up close look at what can happen if a viable budget is not reached.

By having some that are workable budgets and some that are not to give her an example of what the consequences are. Some people have to see it to understand how important it is. Without a workable budget she faces not only financial instability but this can also cost her potential donors what would help to infuse the entity with cash and allow her to provide more services to her clients. Also, without a workable it is like a crap shoot in the dark in the fact that she would not know whether or not she was going to be able to continue maintaining current services from year to year .

By providing a working budget she not only increases Carfare’s stability for herself but for the clients and the people that are employed there. Increase Carfare’s surplus/methods are most feasible to implement There are many ways that Carafes can increase their surplus. When providing services there are always ways to combine them together to make it more efficient based on the needs of those involved. Carafes provides services such as individual counseling, group therapy, home assessments, and parent consultation.

As an example would be when an individual meets with a social rocker there should be an appointment made at the time for future sessions so that the client already knows ahead of time when they need to be available. This can help with cut backs on materials and a wasteful use of time. A problem could arise if the individual wants to have a session at the exact time of meeting with the social worker. By having the client make their appointments in advance makes the schedule more flexible not only for the social worker but also the client.

Incorporating administrative duties can also help the social workers finish his or her work in a timely manner without asking extra time to finish paper work. Training associates to work With different types of therapy departments can utilize the companies time. The downfall could be less trained associates working with the social workers and causing more frustration for everyone involved. But by incorporating a comprehensive training program that each associate is required to complete before being able to even Start on paper work as well as providing continuing education classes will help prevent this type of frustration.

Another way of producing more surpluses would be cutting back materials and relying more n emails, scanning documents, and buying more in volume. Being more efficient with printing and copying could also save money overall. Yes there will be some forms that cannot be emailed to those individuals that might not have access, and then yes there would be the need to print and copy forms. By investing in completely automated paperless system will cut out future costs. This is already being implemented in hospitals and other businesses. If cost is an Issue there are grants that are available out there for Carafes to apply for.

A social workers schedule can be very time consuming and without the right scheduling there could be waste of time and going back and forth in the same areas when going into home sessions. A great way to cut back in commute time would be to schedule home sessions that will be in the same area around the same time. This could also be hard for some clients while waiting for an appointment and not meeting the needs of the clients. But there is software out there that can help with this to give the social worker the least amount of travel time between each home visit.

I think the cost cost efficient way for the company is to cut back on materials and look at ways to use technology. This can be a time saver for the organization and help with office administration being more efficient. Technology can also help with scheduling and training for those helping the social workers. Each and every way can make a big difference. What Problems do I foresee in Care Cafe’s Financial Future? Based on the scenario, it is clear that Mrs.. Drexel has a good working history in social work but she lacks the skill set she needs to properly run a business, especially in the finance department.

She has no clue of what a budget is, and how to create it. This keeps things on the budget sheet in perspective as well as in order. Mrs.. Drexel probably IS unaware of different terminology in terms of controlling the finances at this organization such as the chart of accounts, the general ledger, cash t-accounts, and one that is extremely important in terms of preparing a budget is known as the revenue and expense accounts. It is important that she understands the different functions and classes of accounts pertaining to finances such as assets, liabilities, net assets, revenues ND expenses.

If she has no idea what these are then truly they will not last as a business. What may be done to prevent those problems? I feel as though she would really benefit from taking an accounting class or to hire someone who has the education and background in accounting so that she is able to effectively sustain the organization. Because she lacks the basic elements and tools in running the finance department, I can easily see this organization going downhill because this position is so vital and important if they choose to remain in business.

Also in any business, it is important to spend money instead of your credit card because you are able to visualize the cash you spend but it is not as easy to visualize the many times we swipe our credit cards which will in fact cause us to get in debt. Conclusion In conclusion, although Mrs.. Dexter may not understand it she needs to have a workable budget and take whatever steps necessary to accomplish this. Without this she cannot hope to have stability in her company for not only for herself but the persons served and the employees who depend on the funding being there for them.
