Major Agents; Sociology

Four major agents that have influenced my development are family, school, peers, Those major agents are family, school, peers, and mass media. Mass media. My family are the ones that have always been there for me. I grew up with my brothers so They influenced me greatly. My parents raised me so they had a great influence on me so I can be the person I am today. I have gone to school all my life. Teachers have been educating me for many years. The school influenced my development my pushing me so I can keep moving forward with my learning to be successful. Peers are another big influencing factor in my life.

The people I have around influence my development because you act the way your peers do. So if I was hanging around a group of friends that are immature then I’d act immature and vice versa. The last agent that influences me is mass media. Mass media influences me greatly in terms Of the Way I dress, kick, feel, and approach the media itself. Often times 1 kick to media in order to gain the latest tips and trends on today’s fashion and beauty. It seems as a teenage girl some part of my life revolve around this aspiration to be as beautiful as the girls in magazines, television, and the movies.

As a result, I tend to want to wear makeup while continuously buying new clothes to strive for this ideal. It is evident that media has had an ever- growing affect on young teen girls like myself and it will ultimately affect the way we feel about ourselves and how we are portrayed for the rest of our lives. If the source of the incompatible demands placed upon you is coming from two or more members of the role-set that corresponds to one status, your experiencing either role-conflict or role-strain.

How conflicts and strains are resolved depends upon the particular circumstances. In some cases, it’s imply decided based upon our own personal preferences, we’d rather do one thing rather than another. But other times we know that it is in our best interests to defer to those individuals who have the most power in the situation. My principal, for example, has more power over me than do students. In other instances, we resolve these incompatible demands through compromise. Everyone experiences these conflicts and strains.

They are built into the structure of our status-sets and their corresponding role-sets and they are typically resolved in a patterned, as opposed to totally idiosyncratic or random manner. Resolving conflicts through compromise is a good way to solve problems. For example, I didn’t want to go to Waterloo but my mom was making me. I told her the only way I’d go with her is if we could go out to lunch. We compromised that me going to Waterloo with her involved her taking me out for lunch so it was a win-win situation. As getting lunch and she was getting me to go with her. The sociological significance of technology affects society in a number of ways. It can make their lives more simple, it can cause them to spend more money, it can allow them to view and do things they could never get at without it. The use Of social networking sites has both positive and negative consequences. It is amazing how someone can find a long-lost friend through a social networking site, enabling them to reconnect.

In a society where people have become quite mobile and family and friends are often geographically separated, it is convenient to keep in touch through technology. However, there are problems with technology. There is a lively debate about whether Internet addictions are real or even the use of the cellophane. Some believe that technology contributed to cheating on significant others, often leading to divorce. People have been fired from their bobs or put under pressure because they use these sites at work or because something is posted on a site that undermined the person’s professional standing.

One subculture is that belong to is my softball team. The distinctive belief for my softball team is that before every game we have a huddle. Coach will talk to us and we put all our hands in and say a encouraging word before taking the field or going to the dug out. My team values softball greatly. Not only cause its a game but because it helps you learn life lessons. Softball is qualified as a subculture because it is a smaller group inside off bigger one.
